"I had grown quietly but increasingly desperate, seeing my office desk piling up ever more with clutter each day, noting I could no longer push additional papers into bulging files. When I saw her online ad and noted she was in Phoenix, I called immediately.

Ms. Simpson is a consummate professional. She finds out quickly through prepared questionnaires and personal interview, exactly what YOU wish to accomplish. She won’t decide what needs to be thrown out, but she is a font of wisdom regarding what needs to be kept for various financial or tax reasons, and very helpful in making suggestions about how to organize what you definitely need, what you may want to keep, etc.

She has specific rules (should you put papers in file from newest to oldest or oldest to newest; should you label the top of the file on the back or front of the file?), and explains why her choices are better than the alternatives. Feel free, of course, to do it your way instead, but I was amazed at how much easier her way made things. She specializes in simple solutions to common problems.

I caution that organizational services may cost more than expected, in part because the tasks take longer to accomplish than one initially thinks, and in part because once you see how well she has organized, say, your office, all of a sudden organizing the attic or garage or basement become considerations worth exploring. And like any new habit, it is easy to fall out of it, and you may need to call for an extra appointment in six months or so to “catch up”.

Be prepared that this is a team effort; Valerie works hard, but so will you. You can’t get organizing done by just delegating her to do it. It’s much more interactive than that, so you need to plan the time. But it’s well worth while when you’ve finished.

See the “things” around me -"Valerie’s coaching enabled me to see the “things” around me that were not necessary to do my job and might just be cluttering my workspace as well as my ability to think more clearly because of less ‘stuff’ around me. By removing some of this ‘stuff’ it cleared the ‘air’ so to speak. Plus it is just easier and more efficient to work at a desk or in a cube that is not cluttered. Valerie’s coaching has brought my attention to a higher level of awareness to just work efficiently and to help me be calmer and have a feeling on being ‘on top of things’ that I’m responsible for and to ‘let go’ of the things I are not my responsibility. The suggestion to keep a notebook/calendar of things “to do” has also been a tremendous help to track “to do” items and provided a wonderful feeling of accomplishment by crossing a “to do” off the list!

I didn’t even want to think about [organizing]. I had just moved, everything was still in boxes. Don’t ask me which ones…and don’t ask me how many times I went through all those boxes (25 to be exact) before finding what I was looking for. And what about all the stuff piling up on my desk, kitchen counter, and dining room table? Hey, I need that stuff!
Just turn it over to Valerie the little voice said…Valerie Simpson of A to Z Organizing Pros®. I met her at *B.A.B.E.S. Booming in Business. How she came to us, I don’t know. Maybe she possesses a homing device that targets the hopelessly dazed and disorganized.
